LOQI x Stephen Cheetham Cats & Dogs Bag

Are you on the hunt for an animal tote bag? Look no further. Stephen Cheetham has teamed up with LOQI to create the cutest collection of furry friends.

Meet the artist behind the cats and dogs

Stephen Cheetham is an English illustrator who loves to mix things up. He was based in Bologna, Italy and has now moved to Barcelona, Spain. He has worked with Google, Wired, Creative Review, Penguin, Oxford University, Nike, Amazon, Sony Music, The Economist, Bloomberg, and Uniqlo. Look out for Cheeky Cheetham!
You can recognize his style from its minimalism and clear lines. His color palette varies from vibrant shades to muted tones, but he always uses bold shapes and strong outlines. He is fascinated by form and prefers things clean, simple and eye-catching. And so does LOQI!
On the whole, he is led by his daily observations which are personal to him and a bit quirky! Attentive to the world around him, he reinterprets all sorts in his own unique and unconventional style - landscapes, architecture and intimate personal interaction. He sees and captures the beauty of the everyday. His work is full of surprising series featuring fronts of cars, coat hangers and chairs – as well as cute animals. The simplicity is ingenious and elegant.

Exclusive: LOQI interviews Stephen Cheetham

Stephen Cheetham often combines his interests with his art. You might have seen one of his projects Nike Decades. He illustrated sneaker designs from the king of pop culture Nike. His love of sneakers is also clear from a personal project turned professional. His illustrations of the development of shoe boxes from brands Nike, Adidas, Converse and Vans later became a series of prints.
His art has an edge to it, and we wanted to find out more.

Q. A museum nobody should miss?
A. Cooper Hewitt, New York

Q. Craziest place in Bologna?
A. I’m not sure about craziest, but Osteria Del Sole has huge amount of character and is one of my favourite spots in Bologna. A bar that first opened in 1465, it has all you could want. Old men playing cards on wooden benches, glasses of wine filled to the brim and a pair of Mohamed Ali’s boxing gloves on the wall.

Q. An exceptional place around the world?
A. Banganga Tank, Mumbai. Go there at dusk and sit on the steps next to the water. Bliss.

Q. What's your favourite quote?
A. “Being Instagram famous is equivalent to being rich in Monopoly” - unknown

Q. What song best describes you work ethic?
A. “Whistle While You Work” I guess because I’m usually in a happy place when working.

Q. What kitchen utensil would you be?
A. A teaspoon. But I can’t figure out why. It’s not so much about my character, but out of my personal utensils the teaspoon is my favourite.

Q. Pick two celebrities to be your parents.
A. Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore.
