Here at LOQI, the quality and durability of our bags have always been a priority and we are proud to say that all our products are sustainably produced. And we promise that they will also make you smile along the way.
Planetly calculated LOQI’s carbon footprint, looking at all energy-related emissions across the company’s locations in Berlin, New York and the external production site in China. It includes emissions generated by service providers and purchased products and services.
In 2020 LOQI switched to 100% recycled GreenCircle material, to Greenpeace electricity, to FSC certified packaging and to sustainable shipping partners to reduce emissions. As a next step, LOQI will identify more reduction areas with Planetly. LOQI is committed to reduce and avoid emissions wherever possible.
At LOQI we want to raise awareness for things that matter. Making the world a more sustainable place by reducing the use of plastic bags is at the core of our work. Together with our partners we actively contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
In Peru, LOQI supports the protection of 182,000 hectares of Andean rainforest. In India, a wind project that feeds renewable energy to the electricity grids. In Rwanda, the installation of new water pumps to provide access to a hygienic water supply. On top of that, LOQI supports Plastic Bank, an initiative working to stop ocean plastic. LOQI’s support will enable the collection of 250 tonnes of plastic from the ocean.
Let’s get a bit nerdy here and learn about Taffeta, Tyvek, TPU and other bananas
Recycling never looked so good! The superstar GreenCircle recycled certified tafetta material can be recycled over and over again. Did you know that RPET material made from plastic bottles cannot be recycled again? This is why we choose a recyclable close chain system fiber.
Our polyester taffeta is pretty fantastic.
It’s scrunchable, recyclable and lightweight like paper. You can equally rely on it to be
tear-resistant, water-resistant, washable, breathable and exceptionally durable. Its robustness, and high strength-to-weight ratio means you can trust it to stand the test of time. Like paper to the touch. Wears like fabric.
Tyvek®is free from plasticizers and restricted chemicals listed in European Directives.
We would like you to meet Thermo Polyurethane. Elastic, breathable, water resistant, impact resistant, abrasion resistant, oil resistant. Oh, and it does not stiffen or discolor over time. Bam.
TPU is not toxic. It is safe in many applications.
It is even used in biomedical cases. TPU material is not to be confused with plastic PVC or PET which are harmful to the environment and to humans. PVC contains dangerous chemical additives such as phthalates and chlorine.
TPU not only differs from them by its safety certification but also by its many quality properties. Phew! Wait, that’s not it – it can be recycled mechanically and can be melted and moulded over and over again! We told you that we love to reuse.
At the LOQI factory there is no dye waste product from printing. We recycle the leftover colors and mix them to create black for monochromatic designs. By the way, no bleaches are used either. Our eco-friendly dyes have been STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® tested. Doesn’t this sound good?
Here comes our favorite part! We make sure all our products are printed using waterless printing. This printing process eliminates the water or dampening system used in conventional printing.
LOQI is made in China, the Land of the Red Dragon. It is a family factory with 150 workers. Our factory has 30% shares in our LOQI brand and this is how we ensure our quality. Good quality also means that production meets high ethical standards. The factory has received accreditation from third-party BSCI, a leading supply chain management system controlling all our workers benefits from fair health, fair pay, safety, work hours and legal rights. LOQI makes products that both the environment and people love. We love our factory. And our factory loves us. It’s a match made in heaven.
Say YES to a LOQI that brightens up your day, every day. Say no to one use plastic bags. Let’s reduce the use of plastic bags together, and care for the environment as much as we can. Our community is making a difference by always carrying a LOQI. It means the World, Mars, and Venus to us.
